    co-angler gas money

How much do you pay your boater when fishing as a co-angler

I usually pay $40 cash at the pairings meeting,,,,,,I think that is fair, what do y'all think?

    Re: co-angler gas money (pdadave)

It usually depends on how much we ran that day. If we run a lot, I'll offer more. I offered $40 at the Dale Hollow tx this year but he would only take $20. I try to be fair to both of us in my offer. We all know how much it cost to run our own boat so I try to guage it accordingly.

agreed. I choose an amount that gratifies the situation. If i am fishing barren 20 is plenty. but on the twins $40 might be neccessary.

I dont think I have ever gotten that much from a co-angler, but I dont run that much. Most of the time I get 20-25, But I also spent $60 once when I was a co-angler and that was when gas was $2 a gallon!

I try not to think of it in dollars, but rather gallons. If you always pay for at least 10 gallons, you should be in good shape, and reflects current gas prices.

$25 to $30 should do it.

If a boater can't get it done on 20 gallons, than he must be running too much. Only exception would be on KY Lake in the early spring (March). I'd gladly pay for extra gas to go south then!

    Re: co-angler gas money (artcarney_agr)

This weekend in the BFL my partner ran around 30 miles, put me on fish that gave me a 3rd place finish. I handed him $50 bucks when we got back to the ramp, but he would only take $40. I just try to be fair. If we would only had ran a few miles and I caught the same bag, would I have given him $50? No, but I thought with him practicing a few days and finding the fish, that $50 seemed fair.

I had a guy give me $75 a few years ago on KY lake... I'll beit he got a nice 2k check and a boat ride.

i don't expect anything but an offer.. if you offer I will turn it down, if you make money on the fish I find and I don't ... well you bet your bottom dollar I will take a guide fee, if offered.

If they get a check I'll take some gas money be it 20 or 40 whatever doesn't matter. If they don't get a check I don't want any gas money. I'm just glad they keep coming to fish with us. I try to treat them like I would want to be treated after all there spending a big chunk of money to fish too.

You never offered me money like that!!!

I try to give $40 ( or more) no matter where we are fishing or how much they run...Even if they only use a little fuel, they have fuel to get the boat there, fuel for prefishing, oil, etc...I have been a boater long enough to know that a BFL tourney will run a between $60-200 in fuel depending on where I have to tow too and how much I run...

    Re: co-angler gas money (jigjunky)

My club has a rule that min 30 bucks. I dont think anyone ever takes the whole 30 bucks. I once thought about taking it since the guy I had as a partner would get stuck every other cast and I would have to turn the boat around.

The last few the co have give me 40 and I think thats fair most of the time but I also think that should be the min.... You have to remember how much time the boater practiced and showing u different areas of the lake and oil is not free either...

Most of the time 40.00 is great, in the 90ties my co anglers gave me 20.00 at the most. These days 20.00 bucks don't cover the oil

You should probably just run your own boat then.</td></tr></table>

I will second that, the pro spends a lot of time and gas on the water looking for fish and being a guide, 40 bucks is the least amount a co angler should pay these days.
