    Spoiled

Went to Lake Erie over the Mem. Day weekend with a good friend of mine and just got flat out spoiled. The population of fish in that lake is just crazy. Fished Sat. and never caught a bass until about 2 PM and finally found them. Caught 20 in about 2 hrs and went in. Sunday fished the majority of the day and caught 71, fished Monday until about 1 and caught 51. We never caught any giants but 85% of the fish were 3 - 4.5. I would imagine I broke off 20, and missed about 1000.

Also caught 40 drum, 2 walleye, and 3 gobys

Has to be one of the funnest trips I've taken in a long time and a much needed "catching" trip. If you wanna get your thumbs worn out take a trip up to Erie!

Its also pretty cool to be able to fish for 3 days on 1/2 tank of gas. You dont burn too much when you cant run over 30 mph

My brother has been going for the past 5 or 6 years. I just havent gotten to go with them yet. From the stories he tells sounds like you had a bad day. lol
If they don't catch over 100, with atleast 20 or so in the 5 lb range they are peaved. I've got to make that trip one year before I'm gone.

Drew, where did you go on Erie? Do you have a recommended place to stay and a ramp to use?

Catawba is a really nice area and has good facilities for launching. The knights inn in Sandusky has good boat parking and rooms. Plenty of good food around there too. The mazurik ramp is nice too. Both of those are free.

the pennesula inn 419-734 4778 it is ok but a little more exspenive
I have stayed on main land many times but have also stayed on south and middle bass islands

The best time I had up there was in June all you need is a good dropshot rod and some tubes

Drew your day definetly doesn't suck, but its far from uncommon there. We go to St. Clair every year a few times a year, and when the weather and water are decent there I fully expect to go out and catch between 50 and 100 per boat. Its really that good up there. Friend of mine just got back form there and said they probaly caught between 100 to 150 per day. Now half of those were largemouth which is like shootin fish in a barell up there, but the fishing up North is just head and shoulders better than what we have in the south or midwest. JMHO...

Anyways congrats on a great day.. I rememeber my first few trips up there catchin them like that. I thought it was the greatest trips I'd ever have and truthfully they probably were. I'll never forget them for sure!! Can't wait to go back.. Congrats again and start planning your return trip!!
