    Dale 10-31

I made it down to Dale for the first time this year finally. Me and Ed got out and had a great time. We caught 7 and missed about another 7 bites between us. Ed had 5 before noon and then I got him out on some of my offshore stuff. I caught 2 on 2 casts and broke off on another one. I was making a pretty serious comeback on him and was on a roll so he broke his trolling motor cable to mess up my focus and good JuJu. He stretched out the repair efforts for a really long time just to break up the momentum I had going and it turned out to be a pretty good strategy since we didn't catch anything after that. The offshore fish were definitely more shallow. The 2 humps we caught fish on they were up around 20 ft and the the rest were down around 30-40. Never got a bite shallower than 30 on anything other than the humps. The one I broke off on literally spent 10 minutes jumping trying to throw the jig. That crazy thing must have jumped 20 times. I don't think I've ever seen a fish jump that many times trying to throw a bait. Those fish are pulling HARD right now. Everyone of them we caught were MAD. Here's some pics of the best 3.

Ya like I purposefully made that trolling motor rope break
Wouldn't have made any difference anyway, getting to late in the day for you have a chance to catch up with me

I think this winter is going to produce some BIG weights! Every fish I've seen from Spring (even after spawn) has held weight on and remained fat. As they start gorging on bait now and through fall, they are only going to get bigger!!!

Hopefully we'll see some more 6lbers caught this year than previous years!

You keep up with that stuff more than I do so I'll take your word on it. I do know that all of those fish were freakin footballs though. That big one that I caught would've been a little under 21" (measured on an 18" board, thanks Ed ) but it was at least 5 lbs if not more. (no scales, thanks ED! ) Ed caught one around 19 1/2 and it was at least 4 1/2 lbs. In 2 weeks that lake is going to be insane.

Nice job guys! My buddies and I would like to head down during Thanksgiving. Do you have any tips on what to use? We are just fun fishing and are trying to get away from the fly method or live shiners. Is the lake down yet? Thanks

Its down some but won't be down nearly as much as last year. You are pretty safe to run just about anywhere you want right now.

If you don't want to throw the fly, pick up a jig and keep a silver buddy, maybe a swimbait, and jerkbait on the deck.

I rarely throw anything other than a jig.

That's really a preference and condfinece deal in my opinion. I like throwing 1/4oz jigs when the wind is not very bad in natural colors and 1/2 to 3/4 football when the wind is blowing.

Colors: Green Pumpking with brown or orange, cumberland craw, brown with a lil orange, peanut butter jelly etc...Mostly natural colors. For the little jig I use zoom skinny chunk trailers in avocado or watermelon red as well as tiny chunks in the same color and sometimes tip the tail in chart. For the heavier jigs, I use chompers cinnamon purple twin tails or zoom twin tails in cinn. purp, watermelon red etc...
