How do you feel about pros fishing the local tourny's?

i saw elite series pro Bill Lowen fished the BFL out of Tanners and place 2nd. I know when i was in Texas the local guys didn't care for it when the "pros" came and fished the BFL's, Federation or some of the large independent circuits. In fact some of them had rules stating if they fished as a pro that paid out in an excess of a certain dollar amount then they couldn't participate

I'm indifferent about it but I'm sure Bill fishing just this one cost someone who fished the who series potential money or a trip to a regional...

I'm not sure if its right or wrong, what do you think.

I agree with the guys in Texas, pros are individuals who fish daily as their profession, they should not be allowed to cherry pick BFL, Federation, and other amatuer events. The guys in these series have limited practice time due to their other professional obligaions, so dont slap them in the face allowing this to go on, shame on the BFL I hope some who were in this tournament let the BFL know how they feel (by not showing up at the next event).

I wouln't have a problem with it. I can't beat most of the field anyway. Everybody else just needs to pull up their panties and fish! Who knows, maybe he's hit hard times and needed to win a tourny.

I would have a problem with it also...simply due to if happens often enough...watch and see how many boats the BFL's start losing!!!

Ego's cost big money if you dont keep them in check, you wont get any better going broke trying to beat a pro who is on the water every day. I dont think you would want a title holding professional boxer showing up at a toughman contest would you it is the same thing.

Who cares who he is...I thought that we are fishing against the fish, not the other fisherman...If you can woop the fish, it does not matter who else is fishing...

IF you can't compete you don't need to be there in the first place. IF you aren't on fish to be competitive no matter who shows up then why fish in the first place? There's where the ego comes into play. If I don't think I can beat whoever is fishing then I'm not going to fish, simple as that. And fishing is just a little bit different than boxing.

As long as those are the pros that is fine...they aren't exactly household names but let KVD, Skeet and Ike start showing up for all of them and see what happens. If it's ONLY you and the fish why don't we all fish the Elite Series? We all got boats, jobs and vacation time...let's go for it!!! I've took on my challenge...trying to get a daughter through college!!!!! I can't afford to fish a one boat Tuesday nighter in my bathtub!!!!!!!

i dont think there is anything wrong with it. Obviously he wasn't the best that day because he came in second. It's not like he can go catch fish that other anglers can't just because he is a pro. No matter who enters a tournament it probably going to take the same amount to win, Weather a pro is there or not.

I bet he had spent less time on the Ohio this year than more than half the field.

Tiger Woods comes to Kearny Hills do you really think that you can beat him 1 in 10 times? KVD shows up to a BFL after you have fished say 10 years in a series you come in second or third behind KVD you arent gonna be pissed off since he will never contribute again to your series? Do you think you can beat KVD 1 in 10 times? OHFG this one is simple guys, I not selling a stimulus package or health care voting for pros to stay out of amatuer "series" not open tournaments can only be in your best interest. Have you ever entered a series tournament? If so didnt you try to pick the one that best served your strengths such as lakes and competition. Replace boxing with poker you want to play me or one of the pro's in Vegas with you money? By the way Bill Lowen didnt just happen by and enter I promiss he had good info. and practice so it wasnt like showing up at Nolin blind.

This is only my opinion on the matter spend your money however you want 9 out of 10 dont get paid in tournaments anyway. I

That's exactly what I was thinking. If any pro's fished tourney's on Nolin I'd fish against them, not that it would ever happen.

This is why I fish instead of box, golf or play poker. You don't fish against KVD, you fish against the fish. And no, I don't care what tourney it is, I welcome any pro to show up. Thats why I like this sport, parity from professional to entry level comes in the form of mother nature. Bring on the big guns, I'll give them all I got, take my lickin and take a shot at beating a big dog. I'm not scared.

I will look for your results in the FLW and Bass series in the future since that was what this question was about. Best of luck.

feel free, won't see my name there because I don't have 2-3 days to prefish for these type of tourneys before the event. I chose my events based on my skill level and what I think I can win. Thats all these guys are doing, you blame them? I'll promise you the homers practiced more for that tanners creek tourney than bill lowen did. Don't hate just because he's better than you and I.
