Thanks for the update Rodney. Plus, we appreciate you not fishing this year, so that we all had a chance!

By the way......We looked for that place where the little rocks turned into big rocks, but we couldn't find it!

We had three fish at 10lb 6oz. We were on Northern KY Lake for two of the fish and mid-Barkley Lake for the third. Two cam on a tube and one on a spinnerbait.

On Friday we had a limit in about three hours before those bad storms came in. We were at the Days Inn in Gilbertsville. Had marble size hail.

Chatter bait is what Ramey said out from the bushes and flowers.

Second place said you needed some kind of wood around, stick up or old log.

Chatterbait huh? Last year had the same thing happen the fish would not eat anything but a chatterbait for a week then they went back to spinnerbaits. It was a great day for fishing if you where out looking for 14" fish for sure. We actually had some good fish but not retying after all the little fish cost us some bigger fish. At least the wind was not too bad and it got somewhat warmer.

Re: Jet-a-Marina tournament results WOW (Mike Daleo)

Mike, Joe Working and I finished ninth throwing nothing but a Carolina rig and a jig on Kentucky Lake. We Carolina rigged with a lizard in all the green pumpkin and watermelon seed colors. We like dipping the tails. The jig was a dark green pumpkin color that I got the skirt from Bart at Fishermans Headquarters. Bart knows the name of the color, I just know it was a dark green pumpkin with some flash. Our first stop was in Smith and we went as far south as Blood River. We ran 27 gallons of fuel on what we call our milk run fishing both sides of the lake, around 20 spots.
We were able to practice on Friday and decided to fish south Barkley. We know most tournaments this time of year seem to be won on south Barkley. We struck out, eliminating everything in the bushes. We just couldn't git bit in the bushes shallow. We did catch some on secondary points that were near deep water. So we figured we would be better off fishing Kentucky where we know the water better. We saw it was going to be a north north east wind and figured the bit would be slow.
I have to complement my partner. He is the best Carolina rigger on the lakes. Of course he should be, it is the only thing he throws 365 days a year. It is amazing how many fish he can catch without ever feeling the fish. He catches fish that others wouldn't even have a clue that they were there. When it is a slow bite (high ski, east wind, cold front, ect.) he is at his best.
We only caught six keepers. Two of them were over 5 1/2 pounds. He caught one on a Carolina rig in four foot of water on a flat in front of the bushes. I caught the other on a jig in 8 foot of water on the edge of a small secondary point. The next biggest fish was caught on a jig in three feet of water on a secondary point. The other two were caught on the Carolina rig in 5 to 10 feet of water on secondary points. We caught nearly 30 fish on the day, twenty five of those were on a Carolina rig.
I know everyone talks about the ones that got away and now we have a story to tell. We had the winning bag hooked. We lost two huge fish that would have put us well over 25 pounds. We got them both near the boat and they just pulled off.
I won't to thank Jetta for putting on another great tournament and fixing my boat, Bart and Laurie at Fishermans Headquarter and my partner for what was a wonderful day.
If any of you know Joe, ask him about his Jetta sticker. He liked that sticker in his wallet more than he did $500 dollars. I bet he will have that sticker on next year.

Re: Jet-a-Marina tournament results WOW (buzzking)

How far back were your big fish pushed back into the bays/pockets??

We ran to Barkley, but should have stayed on KY Lake and maybe could have scratched out a limit. Last year we couldn't get the bite going on southern Barkley either and decided to pre-fish KY Lake this year. Would have tried more spots on KY Lake this year, but got ran off the lake by the storms.... Oh well, will try again next year.

The north end of KY was over ran by peckers, you couldn't get away from them. From main river ledges to bushes in the back, the dinks ruled the day this weekend on KY. 2 days, 100-130 fish...6 keepers.
