    Fort Louden/Tellico

Our Bass club is having our Classic on December 13th and 14th this year. I want to suggest a "Virgin" lake for us to compete on. Is this time of year good for Tellico? Do they have a Major winter draw down here? What would be the best ramp and close lodging suggestions? Is Fort Louden the city to use for Map Quest?
    Thank You

Suggest Dale Hollow or Cumberland. Dale might not be the best suggestion for a tournament because of the slot limit, but C-land regularly produces 18-20 lb bags of smallmouth in the winter. Just my two cents.

Thanks, Sounds good, but we were wanting to stay at the three hour max driving time.
Cumberland and Dale Hollow are over 5 hours one way.

If you put in at the canal in Lenoir City you have the option of fishing Tellico or Fort Loudon. The canal launch is very nice with plenty of room, this is where FLW launches when they fish these lakes. Both lakes are great that time of year. Tellico is deep and clear and known for big smallmouth and Fort Loudon is shallower and known for its Largemouth, although both lakes contain a fair amount of each species of bass. This launch is unique in that you can fish two very different lakes or if you are adventurous three lakes, you can lock through to Watts Bar but it is a pretty good run by river from Fort Loudon.

    Re: Fort Louden/Tellico (tnmark)

Good info from Mark above. The lakes will be at "winter" pool by then. Winter pool for Loudon/Tellico is ~4' below full. The channel is well marked on both lakes, so running should not be a problem. Google/Mapquest Lenoir City, TN for lodging info. Lots of new development in that area. The Canal Ramp is just outside LC across Ft. Loudon Dam. Water temps should still be well into the 50's unless we have some BAD cold weather. Fishing should be good. Hope you all have a good trip!

Thanks for the great info. With FLW using that ramp, is it safe to assume that some hotels are fairly close by?
    Thanks again.

The canal ramp is just a few miles off I-75 with plenty of motels and restaurants nearby. Check out Lenoir City, TN.
