    New Trolling Motor

And it sucks! Finally got a plug put on it today after being out of town all week and pushed the button for the first time. Next thing you know, it sounds like a train crashed into my garage. This NEW TM is a pile. Never been on the water and already needs warranty work.

I gotta give it to the guy at A2O, he says they will fix it fast and I can pick it up late Monday

That's a bummer. What kind of trolling motor did you get? At least it sounds like you'll get it back quickly.

Another Minn Kota. I never had an issue with the old one, just wanted a new one before I had issues.

C'mon guys, I bought a new one. How many times do you buy something new and think, "I am really taking a risk here"?

Besides, I needed three new batteries, so I switched to optimas and a new guest charger. This was all part of a boat rehab project, most of which went pretty well.

Mike, I've found that new stuff is more likely to fail in the next 30 days than years old stuff. Once it's worked for a month you be past finding the factory defects and it will then last till it's just worn out.

Uh....Kyle....that is a generous offer but you might recall that Mike and I blew up the last boat we borrowed.

Mike will get the machine working like clockwork. He is a little bit obsessive about some stuff.

    Re: New Trolling Motor (mikedaleo)

That sucks....I can't believe they want you to get it fixed when it is a brand new motor and was broke out of the box, they should just replace it with another....you should call the regional rep if you can find out who that is...I am not sure who it is. If it were a MG I could help you out..I have a spare in my garage...don't have a spare mount for it though but you would be more than welcome to use it while here.

    Re: New Trolling Motor (GM482V)

Thanks guys, it is nice of you to offer your spares and Kyle, your boat. I have been known to blow things up, just ask Brad F or John H.

If this one isn't ready I am just going to go ahead and buy the one I really want. All I need is an excuse.

    Re: New Trolling Motor (mikedaleo)

Mike right after I got my new MK it starting making all that racket.
Took it in to get fixed and it took them about 30 mins.
When the thing was assembled they did not put any grease on the shaft.
Repair place told me they have a bunch of collage students putting them together.
    Hope yours is that simple.
