Did you look inside the hub, around the nut? You first need to verify the engine is doing what it should, before trying to set up...... Which hull??? 296?

Have you changed props recently? If you have, check that your vent holes are in the 3/8 of inch range. If not that I believe you have a black wire with a yellow stripe on it near the upper back of the motor. If you do, then unplug it while motor is running and see if that helps when you try to get on plane, if it does help then your rev limiter is bad.

If not that then do or have a compression test done on your motor a compression test tells you a lot about your motor. Things you can do your self are:

1.) Check your plugs, make sure that the electrode ground( the curved piece of metal) is not smashed and touching the center electrode and or missing, if it is you got problems in that cylinder.

2.) Remove your airbox and then start your motor, While your motor is running, check your fuel hoses from the Vro pump to the carbs. And this is of course while your motor is in the water or getting watercooled. You should see no leaks obviously.

3.) Make sure your plugs are not loose.

4.) Take your prop off and check behind your prop for line wrapped on the shaft.

I think thats about it other than that have a tech look at it
