    Family Vacation

I took the wife and kids to Gatlinburg earlier this week. First off, we got to stay for free which was awesome, plus the gas to get there was paid for by my company I always stay at the Marriott hotels when I travel with my company, so I did the same down there. I was shocked to see that they charge $220 per night!

No big deal, free for me.

First we went to the Ripley's Aquarium. I was BLOWN AWAY by this facility. This is a first class operation. I have been to many aquariums, including Mystoc Seaport Aquarium on the ocean in Connecticut, and this place was every bit as good if not better. I think what made it better was that the people down there are so nice.

Next, Dollywood. This is a Redneck Disneyland. But that is something to be proud of. It was clean. It had plentyu of rides without very long waits. If the wait was 30 minutes, you were usually riding in 15 or 20.

They have one ride that looks like a flying saucer, holds around 25 people around the outer edge in seats facing out an sitting next to eachother. I rode it with my 9 year old sitting nex to me. This thing spins. At one point I looked over at him and he had a foot long string of drool coming out of his mouth Every ride was fun and with my kids I could not stop laughing! I could tell that this was a much-needed vacation for them.

Next day we tooled around a little and went to the Dinosaur Museum. This place is very well done but very small. With antsy kids you can be through that thing in 10 minutes and it cost us $35 to get in.

All in all, great time. The kids are already talking about what roller coaters they want to go on next time.

Sounds like great fun and a good time with your family. A good place to go. I'll be down there in October with my wife and four other couples. We always have a ball.

Gald to see the family had a great vacation, always needed. I love the fast go-karts down there. I know your room was free, but a cabin in the mountain is the only way to go down there. http://www.sugarmaplecabins.com http://auntbugs.com/

'Zactly....three hour drive and well worth it. We've spent a small fortune there since 1979 and almost moved there in 2000. I loves me some G'burg
