Watching a guy load a ski-boat thsi week.

Stood on the courtesy dock and watched a guy load a fairly low-profile 18' jet-drive boat on a bunk trailer. He was backed in so far that he had to wade through the water to get into the boat. Everything but the tongue and winch stand were under water. His method of aligning the boat was to stand knee-deep in the water and push the boat until it was straight, and then run up to the SUV and try to pull out before it got off center. Took him four tries. I'd hate to see him do that on a windy day or in an area with boat traffic.

I never said a word. If he'd have asked, I'd have told him what he was doing wrong. I wonder how many times he's pulled out with the boat on a fender?

Used to, I'd have tried to straighten him out. Now I just mind my own business and help when asked.

Ditto, takes bass boat 1 min on the ramp and those guys 15-30. I struggle to keep my mouth shut. Every once and a while I lose that struggle.

Me and some buddies go to wax boat ramp(on nolin lake) every year memorial day weekend and take a lawn chair and a 12 pack from around 3:00 until dark and watch all of the dumbasses trying to load their boats. It's hilarious to watch these people. there's a little hill above one side of the ramp and we just sit there and die laughing, yeah that guy is going to sleep on the couch, that guy just tore up his lower unit, that gouge that he just put in his boat running it up on the fender is going to cost him a fortune. We plan this little adventure every year and it is just a hysterical to sit there watch these people.

    "On the other side"

When my engine blew yesterday I had to put my boat on my trailer at the Moor's Marina after hitching a ride back to Ky Dam to get my truck and trailer. When I returned to The Moor's to put my boat on the trailer, I let every boat that was coming or going go ahead and launch or recover until no one was around so I wouldn't hold up traffic on that one car ramp.

Just as had backed my trailer down, a guy pulls up with a Ranger to launch. He got out of his truck when he saw me using my trolling motor to take my boat to the trailer and I figured he was going to offer to help...instead he stood there glaring at me and talking to himself in a manner that obviously meant he was ticked off that I was holding him up for 5 minutes. I got the boat lined up and hit the trolling motor and as my luck was going just as I raised the trolling motor my boat shifted and went onto the trailer sidewise. More glaring and mumbling from the peanut gallery. I got off the boat and waded around in the water and shifted the boat onto the trailer. Got it lined up and hooked it up and winched the boat up...until I realized my trailer was just a hair too deep and I needed to pull the truck up a foot or two so the bow would come up over the bow guard on the trailer. More glaring and mumbling from my one man audience. Pulled the truck up and finished my hookup and pulled my poor injured boat out.

I got a good look at the guy with the Ranger and copied down his boat numbers...I am going to keep them in my boat just so that maybe one day I will run across him sitting on the lake disabled....just so I can pull up along side of him, glare at him and mumble something about "What comes around, goes around, XXXHOLE"

I do the very same thing down at Brookville Lake. It's great fun to do that on a holiday weekend. You see some of the strangest things...sometimes you even see a fight. A lot of the people are drunk which makes it a lot more fun!

Four Corners on P.Preist has to rank in the top ten on Memorial and Labor days. You see some godawfull stuff going on at that ramp.

Heck you would never stand there and watch someone with a disabled boat struggling without offering to help Bob....I know you better than that..unless it was Mike and Buck at the Rally and then we would all help them after taking pics...

Re: "On the other side" (Dave Stewart)

It's kind of odd and I don't mean to offend the Buckeyes on here but it seems like they can only trust their own. Like most of you I get a kick out of watching the Ohio Navy come to Cumberland and jack everything up loading the boat(not to mention kickstarting the divorce). I've offered to help when it wasn't crowded figuring if I help a few then that's a few less to hold me up! I've only had one Buckeye listen to me the others acted like I was setting them up or going to rob them. The funny part is this. After teaching my uncle and his bro-in-law (who are Buckeyes) how to unload and load the boat, they can walk right up to the rest of them and explain what they are doing wrong and these guys listen like they are Prophets or something

Man...a guy jackknifes one rig in the middle of the ramp and leaves one set of headlights on somebody else's truck and he is branded for life.

I have allways said i would like to set at the ramp one day with a movie camera, you could be on the show Worlds Funniest Videos, it would be a riot to watch all the beginners.

I was demoing a new boat last year over at Double creek on Barkely and watched two guys and two girls unload a brand new ski boat, didnt even have the numbers on yet. The two girls got in the boat and the guys backed them down into the water. The girls gun the boat wide open and the boat comes up and lands on the ramp, sounded like a bomb went off. The guys come down and get in the boat and they just keep on going like nothing happened, the out drive had to be damaged not to mention the glass on the bottom.
