    Boat / Tackle Shows

Ok, so me and my fishing partner bought a small bait company this year "Charmer Baits" and we're looking to expand our business.

Can you guys give me some names of Boat/Tackle Shows that go on each year that we should attend?

    Thanks,
    Charlie

Re: Boat / Tackle Shows (TR21Bassin)

Thats a tough decision because Louisville has the biggest show in Ky but you can easily be missed there. The Lexington boat and rv show is smaller so you might get more attention. Not sure how many people actually attend the Lexington show but I am sure its less than Louisville.

Either way since you have an online store you need something to give away to people that they will take home and can get your web address from. I would look into something like crankbait keychains with your name on them or something like that.

We're going to try and have the web site up before any of the shows come up. I like the idea of the crankbait keychains.

    Thanks,

    Charlie,
You might concider the Indy show. It is bigger and better than Louisvilles. It's usually in Feb.

there are plenty of people that go to the lex boat show, and considering the number of tackle vendors there, i would think you would get the most attention there. they usually dont have many "large" tackle booths. i think that would be your best choice, but, im not in your shoes.

Anyone have contact info for the Lexington Boat Show?

I have searched the web and came up empty.

    Thanks,

Might try and contact these people:
    http://lexingtoncenter.com/conv-ctr/conv-home.htm

You can also try and look for Heritage Hall which is just below the lexington center and might be a part of it. THe boat show is in Heritage Hall and Rupp Arena.

After looking some more it appears Heritage Hall is now called the Lexington Center.

The Lexington Show if Feb 1-4. Not much out there yet for information. They definitely could use another tackle vendor if you can get in. Tom Bennett is the show producer. He is the station manager at one of the tv stations there in Lexington....can't remember which one. Matt Plapp should be able to give you the contact information since he is going to have some boats there this year.

Tom Bennet at WKYT is in charge of the Lexington Show. For the money, INDY is th best show around for Tackle. We did really well at Cincy, UL & Columbus

Joe: I haven't seen any schedule yet. I was asked by the Lexington show producer to come back this year and agreed to do so but I have not had any contact with them as of yet this winter...probably start checking things out this coming week to decide if I am going on the road again this year. I mentioned to him about the short seminars we had to do last year but did not get any firm response one way or the other...I will talk to him again about this when we make contact sometime this month.

Yeah, give the Lexington show a try because I know Stokley's Marine always bring in big name anglers to hang, greet and talk (take pics, you know). Last year it was KVD and maybe Klein? Anyway the point is that this definitely attracts more anglers as opposed to recreationalists. Good luck with the biz and let us know when the web site is up.

    Joe,
This is our first year in the Lexington show so I'm not sure what happened in the past.

It was KVD and Clunn last year.... You won't see that very often anywhere.
