    Hole Shot Question?

How important is hole shot to you guys? I have never really focused on that aspect I have always given up a little on the take off and used it on the top end. I could see if you racing to a hole 1/2 a mile away but other than that I don't see the need for a great hole shot. Thanks for making me think tonight Mike.

The only time it is important to me is when I have a livewell full and the water is rough. Otherwise, it isn't that big a deal.

It is fairly important to me, but not as much as topend. I need to work on it with my boat, because on breakover my boat blows out real bad, but it still has a pretty quick holeshot! The blowout is just annoying!!

I sort of think hole shot and mid range punch are most important to me since lots of runs in the areas I fish are full of turns in and out of the throttle. It's not like I'm going to break 70 anyway.

Depends on what I'm doing. I guess that's why I have 4 props.

Holeshot is somewhat important to me...but I really think mid range acceleration is more important. I rarely get to run my Cat wide open but I do like the feeling of being shoved back in your seat when you floor it while just crusing along at say 4200 or so. I think Al posted something like this on another thread somewhere in the past two days. I tend to agree with him.

I've have kinda the best of both worlds. But the only time hole shoot really matters to me is if every one is blasting off at the same time.

Re: Hole Shot Question? (Joe Skeeter)

I really want my holeshot to be as fast as possible as I fish a lot of shallow water and need to be able to plane in less than 3 feet of water....I have found that when you really find the sweet spot with the top end, normally it is pretty good with the holeshot too...

    Re: Hole Shot Question? (201pro)

I look for a good hole shot but am more interested in "overall" performance.
But I do not want to be draging with the nose in the air for a long time either.
And I agree with Russ once you get it set up right everthing should work out pretty well.

I agree with the above statements. But if I had to chose over one over the other I would choose having the best hole-shot. My last boat had good top end but had bad hole-shot with two guys, tanks full of gas and yes usually just the non-boaters livewell full. The guy I bought it from had a speed prop on it and I never changed it. Without tourney load it had mediocre hole-shot.

Most of my fishing doesn't allow full throttle so I'm more interested in the hole-shot.
