Never been there but it looks like Vine Grove is between Elizabethtown and Louisville. The closest lake to there would probably be Rough River Lake where we had our rally this year. You would have a few other choices within about and hour to hour and half.
JC
where are some of the other choices?
Barren River Lake would be about an hour, Dale Hollow 2 hours, Cumberland 2 hours.
so i can get to Dale Hollow in bout 2 hours from Vine Grove?
If Vine Grove is near Louisville, Rough River would be a good choice as would Patoka Lake in Indiana. I think you can get to Patoka in about and hour from Louisville.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Yes Luke, 2 hours to Dale.![]()
Barren would be worth a drive!![]()
Dale this time of year would be in my thinking anyway a waste of time...the Ohio Navy is there now in FULL FORCESame goes with Cumberland. If you decide to go to Barren make sure ya get Daniel to go with you, then at lest you have a good chance of catching some fish.

IF Vine Grove is just south of Louisville you have allot of choices if your willing to travel 2 hrs.
Barren River Lake![]()
Rough River Lake
Nolin River Lake
Green River Lake (in my back yard)
Taylorsville Lake
Lake Cumberland
Dale Hollow Lake
Cedar Creek Lake
Since you are unfamiliar with these waters go to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife web site and you can look up some info on these waters. I cant remember the web address (somebody help me on this) try kdfw.gov if you find the site it will have allot of info on the lakes such as boat ramps ,parking, camping and you will find that the site has maps of the lakesThe Lakes I mentioned range in size from 700 acres to 50,000 acres some are shallow with lots of structure and some are deep and gin clear.
I would say that Cumberland ,Dale and Taylorsville would be tough waters for a first timer at the first of July. Some would add Green to that list but it is fishing good this year but nothing like Barren or Rough![]()

150 miles or so, and you can be at the north end of Barkley, and then you also have the canal over to Kentucky. Tens of thousands of acres of fishing! If I were in Vine Grove, that would be my very first choice over most of the other lakes noted in this thread (not knocking them.....just my preferences).

so which would be closer for me i know that there will only be about 1 day that ill be able to go fishin and might have to hook up with someone to go if thats possible
Luke you will be less than an hour from Nolin or Rough and a little over an hour to Barren and about 2 from C-land and Dale. Do you know when you will be going?
Which would be the closest...without looking at a map I would guess Nolin or Rough. I have fished Nolin 10-12 times not real familiar with that lake but it does fish pretty good. Never been to Rough but allot of people here on the board have and the lake does have a good reputation of putting out fish. I would try Rough River Lake even though I have never been there...that suggestion is base on what comments other anglers have had about that lake. I do have a fishing hot spot map of Rough that I can let you borrow if you need it I can drop it in the mail.
