Oval Submersible Trailer light Burnt Out?

I have a 1990 trailer with oval lights with the right side light burnt out. I have removed the whole oval assembly but cannot figure out how to get the light bulb out with break the unit!! Can they be opened? Do I have to replace the whole assembly and not just the burnt out bulb?? Thanks

They are sealed, so NO bulb replacement possible.

A new light runs a little over $10

I replaced both of my oval incandescent fixtures with LEDs, about $17 ea, no rubber grommet or wire pig-tail included.

Thanks Fishmagnet. Did you have to run all new wiring on the trailer for the LED's or just connect wire pig tails to the old wiring??

There is a standard connector at most of the lights that just pops off and you replace the assembly.

    Here's a link to the 3-pin version. http://www.etrailer.com/Access....html

Pry them off the back and replace the assembly. Takes just a minute to change a light.

    Nope!

I just popped the old incandescent oval fixtures out, removed the pigtail connector, removed the rubber grommet, and installed the Optronics LED ovals with the old rubber grommets and existing pigtail connectors.

The hardest part is wiggling/ jiggling the new light within the rubber grommet back properly seated on the light cut-out on the trailer frame.

Lube the rubber grommet with some liquid dish soap and they will go back in much easier. the dish soap washes away and leaves a clean installation vs using grease or WD-40 to lube them.
