just purchased a stratos trailer tandum with surge brakes problems

My 2001 tandum wheel stratos trailer with surge brakes makes a sound like the brake pads are worn or the calipers are sticking,i am not knowledgeable on how to maintain boat trailers-do they have the same set up as a car,do you have to change the brake pads and calipers or have the drums ground.Any help would be gratefull

They are very similar to car brakes except they use a hydraulic actuator in the tongue to apply them when the vehicle slows down. They can be drum or disc brakes.

IIRC, the drums are usually not machinable.

I'd pull a wheel and see what you have, since you may need bearing maintenance too. Post a picture or two so others can give advice.

There is nothing very complicated with them, and you can get plenty of help here, especially from DABS.
