Boat Trailer 4 Way Flat Question NEED HELP ASAP!!!!

I am looking to buy a boat that is 4 hours away. While contacting the marina they said the trailer had a 4 way flat. But they previously mentioned that the trailer had brakes...
Is this possible? Am i missing something? My jeep had a 4 way flat currently.

Is there anything i need to do so the brakes will work? I dont want to drive 4 hrs just to find out i need to upgrade something..

    THANKS!!

It sounds like the trailer has "surge" brakes. No need for any wiring. The flat 4 is for your lights. A wire for the brakes would mean it would have electric brakes like a newer style camper. Just call them back and ask if it has surge brakes.
If it doesnt have wheels, swim, or run naked in the woods, I don\'t know anything about it.

If the trailer has brakes they will work fine. The fifth wire on a five flat plug is for the solenoid that allows you to back up without having to get out of the truck to trip the manual release. You will be fine so go get your boat.

Electric brakes have an in cab controller. Surge brakes use the push of the trailer to stop.

When you look at the trailer you'll see were the tongue pushes into itself thus pushing fluid to the trailer brakes.
Last year when I bought my boat I had the same question to the place I bought the boat. I was used to towing trailers that when they had brakes I needed a brake controller.

MOST bass boats are below the weight required by law to have breaks anyway.

If I wanted it the only thing in that area that would stop me from getting it would be it wouldn't roll. With a jeep ..... Start stopping way soon !

To back up you may have to have a "C" clamp or something to stop the actuation of the tongue.

Many states require brakes over 3000lbs, some as low as 1500lbs, and a lot of bass boats hit that with trailer, OB, fuel and gear.
