200hp Etec has a very stiff throttle an shift

I purchased a brand new leftover 2009 Etec that is on the back of a Ranger 198vx. It is a 200 hp HO and so far I am not impressed with the controls. No hot foot, almost threw my wife out of the boat because the dang thing is so hard to feather up the throttle. Please explain to me what I should look for to ease the stiff throttle.

Im not a technician, but I have been around a few boats, I would first look under the cowling where all the rigging goes in, there is usually 10 pounds worth of stuff crammed into a 5 pound area. It’s possible there is something restricting the movement.
If all that looks good, you should look for kinks in the throttle cable routing....... OR do what most would do and take it back to the dealer you purchased it from and have them fix it, surely someone that did the pre delivery inspection started the engine and noticed the throttle was not smooth.
