I have a 1999 Chevy S10 Blazer 4x4, 4.3 liter, with ~85k miles that runs great. Could this tow a 2001 Triton 186DC with a 150 Yamaha? PS...The trailer does have surge disc brakes.

Is it a 2 door or 4 door? The reason i ask is the wheelbase on the 4door helps a ton on keeping things under control.
I towed a 16' champ with a 115 merc with my 97 2 door blazer and it was real squirley going down the road. When i repaced the truck i got a s10 truck and it was much better control wise. I ended up towing a nitro nx882 with a 150 merc for 3years with that s10 with no issues. I just needed to make sure i left enough stoping distance so i could slow it down even with brakes on the trailer.
Power wise you will have no issue at all, the 4.3 is a workhorse. If you have the rear disk brakes on the blazer it should stop it well too. I dont think you will have any issues with that boat. A fullsize is always better but what you have will do the job.
Thanks JB. It is a 4 door, and unfortunately, the rear brakes are drum.
I thought they changed those over in 98. My 97 the brakes were horrible, they were spongy all the time and they didnt stop good without the boat so with it it was sometimes an adventure. I had a 5 speed manual on mine so at least i could use that to my advantage.
I never had any issued getting it moving with the s10, either of them that i owned. The only beef i ever had was with brakes and the really short wheelbase of the 2 door blazer. The pickup towed great. I now have a silverado ext cab and its a fantastic tow platform and the milage towing with my 5.3 v8 is the same as i got from the s10.
I looked, and you are right....disc on the rears
