    Is this safe?

My 19x2 trailer is having brake issues. I have figured out its most likely the master cylinder that needs replacing. I have one on order, the problem is I want to go fishing before I replace it and was wondering if I disconnect the line comming out of the master cyclinder to keep my brakes from locking up will it still be safe to tow the trailer with out any brakes.

Is your tow vehicle big enough to handle it ? You'll need to know ..... the stopping distance needed will almost double with a 1500 lb rig.

I don't have trailer breaks.(I unhooked them not knowing how the serge worked. Never fixed them. Ford F150 4x4 SC)

Some trailers don't have breaks on em at all.

BTW Most States laws on weight limit is around 3000 lbs or more, must have breaks

Thanks for the info. I have an Avanlanche so I think I will be ok. I had a Stratos before this that did not have any breaks. Was just tring to make sure I wont do any damage to the trailer.

Guys that would be "brakes" Also, if you are involved in a traffic accident with your boat with no brakes, you will be wide open for a lawsuit

    Re: Is this safe? (Superpro)

why would you be open to a lawsuit? I'm very curious about this as a boat doesn't meet the minimum requirments for brakes. Having brakes is a personal choice as far as i am aware.

Depends on each states' laws. If I were up in PA with superpro, I would have to have brakes on both axles of the tandem trailer. In MD Only one required. Maybe not required down in AL. But I would check with your local trailer place, they should know. But if in doubt, call AL law enforcement or transportation department.

In VA, it the boat & trailer weighs more than 3000 lbs, it is required to have brakes AND be inspected every year.

just checked, and the law in Al is the same as far as requireing brakes

TX the weight is 4500 lbs
