What is the best trailer tire?

I need to replace the two I have soon and was wondering if the Goodyear Marathon was best or are there other good options?

    Thanks in advance!

Do a search here for tires. Enough to keep you busy for at least a couple of years.

    depends

Depends...I never travel over 51 miles to any lake so got a good 4 ply tire for lots cheaper.
If your situation is more demanding...the critics agree G Marathons rule.

I like my Towmasters. Rumor is they are built in the same plant as the Marathons. I paid around 70 each.

Marathons are made in the USA, China and Canada.... Watch what you get. Request the good ones like I did.

I just heard that my size Marathons are no longer being made. ST 215 75 R14. Stinks because I got 10 years out of them. Now have to make a decision on the best bang for the buck on another brand.

    Re: (21XDC)

I'm sure there are still some out there, I would just rather not buy a discontinued size in the event of a tire failure and replacement issues.

Two sources. The first was a local tire dealer who was trying to locate 4 OWL Marathons. He called his supplier who gave him the info. I wanted to confirm it, so I called Sears who also informed me that they were being discontinued. They said said I could possibly find some by ordering from Sears internet service and have them delivered to their store. Neither are my buddies. Just what I was told by two separate tire dealers. Just relaying what I was informed of. I decided to order 4 Maxxis Tires, as I just didn't want to take a chance if my info I recieved was correct. been there, done that.

Good info, I never knew you could request this. I assume the made in USA tires are what you want?

My last set was made in canada and lasted 7 years and still look great, My new set is made here in the USA. I did not want the china models.

My new ones are not white letter tires... Black walls look fine on a fishing boat.

Goodyear Marathons: look to see if they are made in the USA also check the date code don't get anything over a year old.

I just put maxxis on my trailer. I talked to a few people from the phoenix area and they said guys towing through the desert were having the best luck with them. I put them on and 2 days later ran 500 miles a few days after that 500 miles home and they did good.

Of course the brand that was on there before (westlake) I never really heard of and I ran them for 5 or 6 years.
