Other than looking good what are the benefits of a dual axle trailer if the boat isn't heavy
It has more to go bad in my past

The load on the bearings and tires is half what it is on a single axle. That makes for longer bearing and tire life. You probably spend more on tires anyway with a tandem, but well worth it IMO. They tow more smoothly in my experience. If a tire or bearing fails, you can remove the wheel and strap or chain the axle up and get back on the road.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
nothing else matters.
Exactly what he said. In case of a catistrophic failure on the road, you have another axle/wheel/tire/bearing/working unit to help keep control of the trailer until you can get to a stop.
I have had the wheel/tire come off of a singl axle trailer at about 60mph and now I won't own anything but duals.
If you burn a bearing on a single you're stucknow you know my answer and for me its the most important

Tandem!!!
They pull better, ride better, and (as mentioned) can save your butt in case of tire or hub trouble.
I have a tandem for my 18' Bass Cat. Won't go back to a single.

I have had both. I live in the same neck of the woods you do so maybe I can explain. I travel up hwy. 87 going to Toledo Ben, about 30 curves. When they say that the trailer goes where the vehicle goes, a tandem trailer can't be beat. No swaying, no bouncing over every little bump, just a all around good investment. I know the maintenance and tires and etc. are more expensive but well worth the peace of mind. One drawback, you won't be able to push it around like a single. You will have to hook it to your truck to turn it.
