I have a 99 Stratos trailer w/ the ufp brake system. I bought this boat used this spring. At the time i bought it, I didn't think to check the brakes. The rig sat still until I hooked it up to bring it home. After the season started I noticed a pretty exagerated 'clunk' upon braking and acceleration (from dead starts and even just slowdowns). I have towed trailers w/ surge brakes in the past, but this seemed excessive. Eventually i chalked it up to surge brakes. Convienently, i live about 2 miles from where i launch.
Anyway, i took the cap off the master cylinder, and it was dry and rusted inside. So far, the right caliper bleeder screw is siezed, i assume the left is too. My limited knowledge into auto braking systems tells me to replace the whole package, actuator down to the calipers. Is this the right choice? The rust in the system will do me no favors and for a few hundred bucks i can start over. I'm just looking for some support before i order all the stuff!
This is my first post here. great website, thanks for the help in the purchase of my first bass boat, which all in all has been great.![]()
