Another Oil Hub Question or two

I have a 2002 Ranger Trailer with Contained Oil Orbital Lubrication Hubs (Cool Hubs).

1.How do you change the oil? I took the cover off of the wheel, and turned it 360 degrees, but did not see an Allen screw to remove to let the oil drain. Do you have to remove the wheel also?

    2. The plastic cover on the end of the hub is dark amber colored. I can not see the oil level. It is not clear at all. How do you take that off, either to clean it or to replace it?

    Thanks for your help

    1. Yes you have to take the wheel off to get to the allen head screw.

    2. you will need to take the whole chrome cylinder off the hub to clean the plastic cover, it does not come off by itself. You need to fill the hub completely up when you put the 50 wt motor oil back in it. You should not see any air bubbles or space in the window. It has got to be full.
Click here, this should be what you have and how to maintain them.

They came with synthetic oil, closest match on market is Royal Purple. Go to http://www.royalpurple.com and use the dealer locator for nearest store. Most auto parts stores carry it in the warehouse if not in the store.
