    Backing w/ surge brakes

I've got surge brakes on my trailer. Wiring is 4flat.

My question - I've backed up a few times recently to the ramp, and also while parking (but not without the boat on trailer) without any issues. Should I be putting the pin in to override the brakes everytime I know I'm going to back up?

I'm not sure what how much pressure it takes to activate the brakes, guess my thought was if it's slow and gentle it wouldn't brake as it would in traffic conditions. Thanks in advance.

Re: Backing w/ surge brakes (Pinch_of_Snuff)

The problem is mostly when backing uphill or on rough terrain. Speed doesn't matter.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

If you have disc brakes, you need a 5 prong connector with a reverse solenoid..

Or if you have a Ford like I do, you may be missing the reverse relay under the hood. Bought one at KOI for about $8.00. Still need the 5 pin connector though.
