    help

I have a 99 championtrailer. I added 2 more running lights under the step-up on the trailer. I drilled a hole and a sandel through the bare metaland mounted the light, I spliced the hot wire into thhe hot lead goiong to the original running lights. I cecked all connections and trailer hook-up.
I have brake and turn signals, but no running.
Can't figure it out, need help any suggestions?

Jr. basskiller, my guess would be that you have a blown fuse in your tow vehicle in one of your fuse blocks under the hood. The running lights and brake/turn signals are on seperate fuses which is why one would work and the other wouldn't. If this is the case replace the fuse and see what happens. If it blows again you have a bad gorund which would be the brown wire on the trailer.

Probably the ground on the trailer. Just a brown wire usually connected by a single screw.

I would start at the plug at the truck with a 12volt test light and make sure you have power and work my way back...It may be that it is not getting a good ground...

On my trailer the brown wire is the "hot" wire for the running lights. And the white wire is for the ground connected to the trailer frame.

Ground is white on the trailer. Brown is the tail/running lights.

How did you splice the wires?
