87 Ranger Trail Trailer surge brake parts (and more?!)

Just got the used boat and trailer this last weekend. The guy before me had locked out the surge brakes. Well the master cylinder is a mass of rust inside. I expect that I will need a new one along with the reverse lockout solenoid. The big question is - can I get the parts? UFP closed before I could get to them. picture of trailer tongue.

Re: 87 Ranger Trail Trailer surge brake parts (Lyn O. Dyer)

I have had 3 phone conversations (Lyn, Waymires, Matteson Marine) stating that the actuator may have to be cut off and and a new unit put on. I took it in to a Richfield Trailer supply and the Titan model 60 looks to be an exact swap. They have the boat & trailer and will attemp the swap of the guts & moving parts of the actuator. The main housing obviously will stay (if they are successfull). Lets think positive on this and stay hopeful! I just want to get my new (older & first ever) boat in the water! I even haven't christened it yet!!

I think I would of tried the boat out a couple of times before I messed with the trailer brakes. Just take your time getting to the boat ramp and don't be tailgating! I guess I've just got that "screw it, I wanna go fishing" mentallity.

The local trailer guy ended up swapping the guts between the new and old actuators. Things seem to be working fine now. Thanks for all inputs.
