    New bearing system from UFP

Lyn sent me this the other day and it sounds like the best thing since sliced bread. No worrying about bearings for years, and a real long warranty on the system. I can't wait to get them on my trailer.

I can't get the picture to download so that I can post it, but maybe Lyn can get something for us to see later

    TRAILER BUDDY AXLE
Your trailer is equipped with a Trailer Buddy Axle utilizing the VAULT bearing
protector with specially formulated “Hybrid Oil”. The VAULT combines the
benefits of oil and grease, lubricating and protecting your wheel bearings in a
sealed pressurized chamber impenetrable by outside elements.
This system has a number of unique features not found on conventional trailer
axles. We take care to seal every possible leak point on the front and rear of the
hub. UFP makes the finest quality axle assemblies available, which are
designed for long term, trouble free performance. The following information is
provided to answer questions you may have regarding this product.
    PRESSURIZED SYSTEM WON’T DAMAGE SEALS
The slight (3-6 psi) pressure the VAULT system generates inside the hub
chamber WILL NOT damage the inner oil seals. The pressure inside the hub is
needed to keep water out of the hub chamber when the hub is submerged under
water during boat launching and retrieval.
    RECOMMENDED LUBRICANT
There is no need for inspection or replenishment of the lubricant. The VAULT
“Hybrid Lubrication System” uses proprietary Hybrid Oil specially designed by
UFP. At ambient temperatures the oil is thick, with a viscosity approaching
grease. As the bearing temperature rises during towing, the hybrid oil thins out,
replenishing the bearings with lubricant and dissipating heat. For optimal
performance, only UFP’s hybrid oil should be used in this system.
    ADDING / CHANGING HYBRID OIL
Adding or changing the hybrid lubricant in the VAULT is not necessary or
recommended for the first five years of service, or ten years with extended
    warranty.

Re: New bearing system from UFP (Tritonbmc)

I have Vault hubs on my new 200 Champion trailer. I have towed it probably 500 miles, and one of the hubs is already slinging grease on the wheel. I'm not 100% convinced that these will go 5 years without maintenance like they advertise.

Have you called Lyn about it? He told me they had hubs on a machine running 24/7 testing. He said they do that to all their products, but especially these new Vaults. Hate to hear about yours and I'm sure they will take care of it.

Check the piston, it's the part of the protector with the "V" on it, it should be sticking out about 1/8 inch , this tells you it's pressurized, if its down, call me asap at 800-854-1905 ext.107, and well get you taken care of, if its still pressurized, wipe off the lubricant and keep an eye on it. We have about 20,000 of the Vault axles out there so far and this is only the 4th incident one I've seen so far, not a bad ratio.

The piston is about flush with the metal part of the cap, but so is one of the other hubs and that one is not leaking. the other two are sticking out about 1/8". My plan is to wipe the grease off and keep an eye on it, as you said.

Dont put it in the water if they are not pressurized. Putting a warm hub in cold water will create a vacum and suck water into the bearings, causing a bearing failure when you least expect it.....
