    trailer hitch question

basscat says optimal hight for there trailers is 18-19" to the top of the ball. i have 20 1/2". what could happen if the hitch ball hight is higher then recomended on a dual axel trailer? also i drove 2 hrs to get her home and i felt all 4 rims. the 2 in the back were warm and the 2 in the front felt normal(like it was not even been on the road). is this normal? are the surge brakes just on the back axel causing the rim to become warm?

Re: trailer hitch question (xm sean)

Warm is ok, hot is not. Improper hitch level causes many problems, tire wear, surge brake operation can be affected, and fishtailing or handling problems are among some. Just get a receiver drop hitch with 1 1/2" to 2" more drop than you have and you'll be fine. I don't think you are far off now to cause major trouble, but why risk it.

just tow level, that will give you optimum braking with no problems....you may need to adjust your ball mount height....If you tow too high or too low it may cause the actuator to hang up when braking and taking off....
