I am wanting to put a camo pattern on my duck boat and was wandering if any of you use a stencil or just free hand your pattern.

The mossy oak break up stensil is pretty easy. It costs $100 with 4 cans of paint. You will need more than that thought. But Any of those stencil kits that the company makes that makes the mossy oak break up, shadow grass, and such for sale in cabelas is good. My buddy bought the shadow grass and it looks dang good. I think the max-4 pattern looks real good but would be way to hard to stencil on the boat. maybe not though. THese are the best stencils though.

Thanks a lot Joey, I was wanting a grassy looking camo pattern so that shadow grass stencil will work out nicely. My boat is 16ft. so you think I'll need more paint?I've already got a sand color on boat already.

I saw the stencils that you are seeking while doing a search on google. They were not cheap, but were less than $50.
You can buy the thin plastic stencil material and trace cattail reed and other stuck on it and cut your own.
I went on google and down loaded a copy of some stencils on there. Got started cutting them out today and got some of the tree bark started. Thanks a lot to all that helped me to find and tell me which stencils I'd need.![]()

Where do you primarily hunt?
I hunt KY and Barkley Lakes, and a Shadowgrass or Max-4 pattern sticks out like a sore thumb!
I prefer the break-up pattern or the Avery Buck Brush, because I rarely get to hunt in saw grass fields in Ky. Also looks good in flooded timber.

Like others have said the biggest thing is to match your pattern to the terrain you hunt.
