first attempt at a euro mount

decided to do a euro mount on my first p&y buck, shot last season, as opposed to my typical plaque. Loved how it turned out, so i may never have another deer mounted.

Looks good but I'll stick with my standard method--of not having any mounted. That's subject to change if I ever get a GOOD one but unlikely since the wife set the bar kinda high by saying it has to be a state record to go on the wall.

Re: first attempt at a euro mount (Habby)

i soaked it overnight in a bucket with half abottle of bleach. I hung the skull from the rafters (let it hang in the bucket), then filled up the bucket of bleach with water until it covered the skull, right up to the base of the antlers, but not on the antlers.

I believe bleach will de-calcify and weaken the bone. Instead use 40% hydrogen peroxide GEL. You'll have to get it at a hair dressers supply place. Brush the gel carefully on the bone, being sure to avoid the rack
