    help on reeds and jets

If I put reeds and change jets, what will I gain? will it help on top end? or will it hurt my blast off ? will it be worth spending the money. Is the gas mileage going to hurt. I have 1999 225 ho on a 1996 javelin. 5900rpm, 6 inch jack plate, 26 racker going to send my prop to mark. I mix my oil and gas have a new fuel pump, took oilier out. Runs 69 with load and 72 by my self I like to get a little more out of the motor any suggestions.

Did you rebuild your fuel pump or buy new, any places with the best prices I'm starting to think I need a rebuild, or new fuel pump.

reeds generally do little for top end speed. they do usually help low end and midrange acceleration and improve idle quality. you may have to re jet. composite reeds will not ding a piston if they break. are they worth the money? your choice.

My fuel pump is new, It does not have the oilier side hook up it just a fuel pump. Got it from my local dealer. This boating stuff is new to me and learning as I go. Had a race car ran 6.60 in eighth mile 3200 pounds 400 small block. but man a two stroke will miss with your mine love speed but have learn liability is better, blew a hole in my lower unit and man it was not fun setting on the river for two hours and got to the boat ramp and fuel pump went out and man long trip back home.
