What do you think this buck scores?

This buck was under my stand less than an hour before I was in it. During my sit, I had 2 does 15 yards in front of me. I heard a buck grunt about 60 yards behind me, but couldn't move because of the does. He was down wind of me and I didn't expect he would stick around long. I heard him grunt again as he was moving off. By the time the does cleared me , he was long gone. At least it was an encounter on my last sit of the year. When I got out of the stand, I pulled my camera and saw this picture when I got home.

That is one nice deer! I'd guess him to be a 133-138" buck and a GREAT wall hanger IMO!!!!

Yeah, I was thinking upper 140's myself. He has pretty good beam length. It was the last day of deer season up in Ontario. At least he made it through. Hopefully I can find his sheds this spring.

Here is my son's first buck (lucky fellow). He scored just over 140". Should be a pretty good comparison.

I would have thought it scored better than just over 140. It has great g-3's and good bases. Your son will have an uphill battle for the rest of his hunting career! I wonder if he would shoot a 130 next year? I used to try and shoot a bigger buck every year. Then I went a few years without and decided just to shoot any 3.5 year old I saw. That is about a 110" to 115" buck in my area. I am very comfortable shooting that age class of deer. We get a lot of hunting pressure in our area. The 130's are nocturnal even in August, 2 months before the season. I know big bucks are dying of old age in my area, but, I have hunted there for over 10 years and have yet to see anything over 115" in person.

Well, he passed on a 2.5 year old 15" 8 point this year. I wouldn't have let him shoot it anyway but he didn't know that since he showed restraint and passing on him. I'm going to take him to the next sportsman's show and have him officially scored so we can get him in the magnolia records. I'll repost the official score when I get one.

low 140's for sure. great beam length, the points are not long enough to push him into the 150-160 mark of course. unfortunaly for whitetails, they dont get much for having a huge inside spread. darn spread credit
