Just checked my scout cam today. Approximately what does this bear weigh? I'm not a bear hunter so I have no clue. Thanks. - DC

What does the law say for you guys should you encounter a bear while deer hunting or something? Are you allowed to protect yourself should you feel threatened or is that a big "no, no" with the Wildlife & Fisheries Authority?

My guess is that he is around 250 - 300#s. Just a guess.
I'm guessing around 300-350 lbs.

Tyson it is a lottery draw. We had 3500 applications send in for $15. They only issued 250 permits (2 hunters per permit). The season only lasted 2 days until they met the quota on 65 bears. - DC
Thanks for the reply guys. I was guessing around 250 to 300. We have a much bigger one around but he has not possed for the camera yet.- DC

about 250ish no beer belly on him and his ears still look big. Both signs that he is not a pig yet.

Got it. Thanks. He will be a pig by winter if he keeps eating my deer feed!!!!
Tyson I have 14 different bucks on my trail cam in the last 2 weeks. Only 2 good ones but it is good to see them around. My girls should have good chances to shoot their 1st bucks this year!(One freezer is full working on the 2nd!

Nice pictures! I might be a little nervous walking to the stand in the dark with him around. What make and model camera did you use?

'Fraid I tend to agree--the head looks pretty big relative to the body. Definitely a young bear but not sure if it's a yearling.
Some people are so judgemental. You can tell just by looking at 'em.--Some random meme
I agree as well. I'm no expert but have taken three blacks and one brown up in Alaska and was along on the hunt when several other bears were taken. Bears always look big when you see them in the woods. Check the size of the ears relative to the head, the size of the head realative to the shoulders, and the sway of the belly. This is a young bear but has a great coat.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill !!
250+. I have a full body mount of a 245# that I took a couple years ago. They look about the same to me.![]()
