    Illinois non resident tag?

We have decided to go to Illinois 2nd week in November if we can still get a buck tag. The DNR site mentions vendors selling them after a certain date. Does anyone know how this works and if it is even possible to still get non resident buck tags this year?

For what it's worth....I ran into a friend of mine this weekend that told me he is going and buying a tag "over the counter" in November. I told him he must be mistaken because Illinois is a draw state and he said they have changed that.

Good luck if your able to acquire one.

I looked last night and it still appears to be a lottery draw, maybe they haven't updated the site I will try to call tomorrow. I do know it said something about vendors getting some after a certain date, but I figured it was what's left over from the drawing if any.

Last I knew if you were bow hunting you could buy the tags over the counter it should come as two tags a eathersex and a antlerless tag at lest for residents. I think it is the same for non-residents. For gun you have to draw a tag for the county you are going to hunt. hope this helps. don't be fooled the deer are big up there the last buck i killed up there was 2 1/2 years out and dressed out about 250.

i called this spring about bow hunting and they started taking names in june or july i don't remeber but i think they gave out 20,000 non resident bow tags, i am sure it is something close to that for gun only so many and its a draw but you gotta think 20,000 thats a lot of tags and the out of state fees, they are making a killing on hunters

I've been going to Illinios for several years and you can buy a doe tag over the counter. It has been lottery for buck tags for out of state, but there was talk that they did not fill the out of state tags and would possibly sell the remaining tags over the counter this year which I hope is the case because at the time to put in this year I was not sure if I'd be able to go, but now that it is almost time things are looking better for me to go.

They did sale some tags over the counter. They started selling them in August. I do not know if they ran out. It was a limited deal. You could also call them and order them on the phone. My buddy missed the lottery and I pulled it up online and he called and got his. Non Res is like 480.00 for a year with 2 tags.. one buck one doe...

Doe tags will be available all year over the counter just like in the past. I think they run 75 for 1 doe.

Here is what the website says:

REMAINING 2009 Non-Resident Archery Deer Combination Permits (one either-sex and one antlerless only) will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8 a.m., CDT on Tuesday, August 11th. Hunters may purchase remaining permits over the counter from a licensed vendor or through the DNR Direct On-line License system on the IDNR web site at http://dnr.state.il.us or by calling toll-free 1-888-6PERMIT (1-888-673-7648). Note: All Non-residents hunters who applied for combination archery permits during the June 2009 application period will receive their permits in the mail by mid August.
