    the 2 blade rage

first off i was so excited about these i bought six of them. and i was so so so disapointed so first of all i was hunting dall sheep. i shoot a trykon with custom string and cable so its not slow. so i had this shot at 25 yds and hit him right above the shoulder (in the blade) and it stuck in about an inch so i get another arrow and kind of pushed the second shot a lil he was quarterin away hit the shoulder it glanzed off and went out through the brisket so im POed after this shoot a 3rd time and just shot him far back to get a pass through and was not impressedb with the hole at all. does anyone else these are junk???

WOW! Sure don't hear many talking bad about them. I just can't bring my self to shoot mechanicals again on big game. Sorry for your misfurtune with them!

Re: the 2 blade rage (TeamFATBOY)

A lot of people really like the Rage, but like anything, I'm sure it does have its limitations. Like most expandable heads, with large blades, I think you sacrafice penetration, especially if you hit some tough bone and you increase the likelyhood of broadhead deflection on quartering shots.

I have found no reason to switch from my Muzzy's. They hit were I aim, they leave a nice hole and they don't come apart. That's all I ask for in a broadhead.

I shot some Rocket expandables a few years back and was never impressed with the penetration.

I have been through a lot of broadheads over the years, but the Muzzy's are my favorites.

I don't have any bowhunting experience so no comment on the blades, I'm just amazed that you can get 3 shots at him. I thought they were skittish.

I would blame my accuracy before I blamed my broadheads, IMO, 2 shots in the shoulder blade and 1 in the guts is not satisfactory.

Re: the 2 blade rage (flippinstic)

I feel your pain when I was in highschool I stuck a buck with a thunderhead 125 high on the shoulder never could get a second shot. It just sucked watching my white fletching wave back and forth while he walked away. I did see him later in the week chasing does which was some sort of relief even though it was a goofed shot.
A guy at work bought the 3 blade rage and was showing them to me. They had to many moving part to my liking plus the price was a little steep for me. I've seen soom of the holes in animals from the 2 blade rage and their just huge. I'd keep it simple thunderhead, muzzy razor sharp and you can find them just about anywhere if you get in a pinch for broadheads.
I'm still in the dark ages for the last 20 years now I've shot 145gn 2 blade bear razor and now Magnus 125gn 2 blades on 30inch 2219's with an old 60lb browning mirage and fingers. It old and slow but it's quite and accurate and most of my shot are pass throughs or at least sticking out both side if i tangle with the shoulder or rib bone. I'll quit rambling.

Re: the 2 blade rage (tomcat)

my .02cents? i don't use mechanicals. i have no bad experiences with them and i know rage is a state of the art mechanical that opens beforehand...whatever. when im hunting hard, i put fourth hours and hours on in for one animal. i just can't bring myself to rely on a broadhand to open and that be the difference if i am rewarded with success. i shoot all fixed blade broadheads, one of two kinds. steelforce or magnus stingers. i've always had good luck with both and twice one with each blade i shot a deer in the shoulder and recovered both animals i just have a hard time believing a fixed blade can do that much damage. i can't say i know that for sure, but just my opinion

My friends and myself have had incredible results with the 2 blade Rage. On all that I have shot there has been one heck of a hole. I've had some buddies that made bad shots too far back that were still devastating. One even tracked the deer by pieces of bowel laying on the ground!! Good luck, and don't give up

    Re: (jpfishmaster)

We shot 3 bucks this year with the 2-blade RAGE all with the same result which was nothing short of devastating. Two deer dropped within 15 yards and my son (who shoots 53 lbs) went less than 40 yds with a shoulder hit. They fly like a field tip and open up a massive hole, 2 of the 3 were pass throughs. IMO there is not a better broadhead fixed or mechanical.

GrimReaper !! Throw away your Rage broadheads. GrimReapers are tuff as hell and have great penatration. I've shot Muzzy 3 blades just about my whole life and had doubts about mechanicals after trying a few. No doubt about them now.

Re: the 2 blade rage (BassCatnVa)

I have had great luck with the 2 blade Rage. 4 kills, all pass throughs. This past season, I shot the new Primos Undertaker, which I like the concept better. It is a piston driven mecanical, so that when the tip hits, the tip pushes the blades out. It seems more fail safe, but I only have 1 kill with so far...keep you posted! Good luck

BassCatnva I'm not going to throw my Rages away. I don't need any more penetration, Its hard enough pulling the arrow 3" out of the ground after it passes through the deer now! Not to mention the entrance and exit holes similar in size to a tennis ball.

Re: the 2 blade rage (flippinstic)

I have been waiting to see some first-hand experiences with Rage broadheads. I have been thinking about trying them. I've been shooting mechanicals since the Vortex days with good success. Currently shooting G5 Tekan II broadheads. I haven't been disappointed with them. Have taken 4 deer in the last 3 seasons with them. The longest tracking job was about 30 yards. I keep seeing commercials about the Rage and get to wondering.........

Re: the 2 blade rage (adchunts)

I'm a firm believer of the rage 2 blades. I shot a doe this year (first deer since switching from crossbow to compound) and the damage was unbelievable. I hit her (quartering away) slightly back from where I wanted and the arrow came out through the front.

She ran about 30 yards and where she stopped - looked like a murder scene. No joke. There was blood EVERYWHERE - sprayed 4' up saplings, puddled on the ground - it was unbelievable.

I will never use anything other than these ever again..............and this is coming from a die hard fixed blade shooter of 20+ years........

penetration aint about all speed what kind of arrow weight you shooting...light arrow with smokin speed still dont carry as much energy as a medium speed heavy arrow....i havent had any experience with te Rages but keep thinkin im gonna try them but no matter what head a shoulder blade hit aint good on any head no matter the brand...i used to shoot Muzzys and hit a buck in the shoulder blade and it ran 200 yards the head was trashed and never got a pass through...its more about shot placement than anything

I shoot 2 blade rages, they are great. I have stuck them in trees, dug them out and then killed deer with them, last fall My hunting partner shot an elk at 82 yards and it passed through as well as did alot of damage, what more could you want.
