Drain Old Gas, Clean Fuel Tanks ?

I just purchased an Old, real old Skeeter Wrangler. I will have a rebuilt engine via exchange and installed on the boat at the engine shop. There seems to be old gasoline in both tanks. The gas doesn't really smell that bad. I have experience with old gasoline from tanks at work. This isn't laqueur yet. The tanks appear to only be accessible through one opening each at the top, where fuel is normally added. On a car, you just carefully drop the tank, or open the drain plug at the bottom... He he heh. I guess i could siphon most of the fuee out, but that would surely leave some sediment. I cringe at the thought of running any grit and goo through the new carbs and a rebuilt engine with warranty. Other than getting the fuel filters ready, any suggestions ?? 1981 Wrangler, and a 1976 or so Pierce-Bearcat 4-stroke 55 hp in exchange for the rebuilt core motor. So, the engine and carbs will be starting new condition. Thanks First post. I searched, didn't really find anything.

Siphon as much as possible, then unhook the fuel hose to the fuel pump. Just keep squeezing the primer bulb and get rid of the rest of that goop into a bucket or something.

Then I would drop some STABIL in before filling up, and I figure the motor would burn whatever little mightve been missed.

This is just what I would do.

Welcome to BBC Mark.....You may also want to install an extra external filter just for peace of mind

You can get a siphon hand pump at Wally World that takes 3/8" line, I hook mine right up in place of my primer bulb fuel line and pump the gas right out. It's quite a bit faster than the primer bulb and you can use it to siphon gas as well
