    Satellite Radio in Ranger

OK guys, I'm still new so don't be to hard on me but I need to put an XM radio on my Ranger 520VX so I can hear the LSU Tigers play,, anybody ever done this? There isn't a whole bunch of room on my steerin console, but I'm sure theres a way. Also, how do you fish speaker wires? Thanks in advance.

Re: Satellite Radio in Ranger (ampman02)

Why would anybody want to listen to a football team play that "backed" into the National Championship?

When LSU learns to play football without 100-150 yards of "pass interferrance and unsportsman-like conduct" penalties, they'll be a contender to the National Championship. For now they're just bunch of lucky Cajuns with no respect.

NO OFFENSE INTENDED, JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW I'M NOT AN LSU FAN!

You can mount the radio just about anywhere you have room. I'd like to have one too, but I actually enjoy the peace and quiet.

    Good Luck,

    Gerald

Re: Satellite Radio in Ranger (Al from Canada)

Not sure, my boat had the sirrius radio installed at the factory. It may help to have a second console installed .

The stereo is in the console and the speakers are in the sides just below the throttle on the driver's side and in the rod ramp on the passenger side. I love mine, listen to the Titan's games on Sundays in the fall. any other time i'm listening to heavy metal. peace and quiet

Thanks for the advice on the XM location. Are there wireways under the deck (conduits) or do you just fish wires through the lockers? I won't mention that lucky cajun team again...

They are coming out with or have already came out with a rechargeable version that is a spin off of the Ipod. I don't have a lot of info on them yet, but I'm going to check into it and see if I can make one work in my Nitro.

you can get a sat radio that is plug and play, so you add it to the radio that you have in the boat now by having a part call a FM DIRECT that plugs into the radio's antenna. this is what i have in my boat. mount the sat radio under the console or in the rod locker so it doesn't get wet

Hey ampman, did you get the XM installed? working? Lot's of good football on this week!!!!!

For Christmas I had Sirius mounted in both vehicles. Got tired of used car ads and goofy morning DJ's. Life is good now.

    Re: (weedhopper)

Yep, got it going. Used it Saturday, country music softly playing...my wife caught more than I did,, next time its rock. Gotta do something different! I mounted it in the drivers side rod locker on the underside of the lid. Speakers are box speakers mounte under the step going to front deck. Life is good.

Roger that a great looking installation! I don't have the second console but I am curious how much one would cost. Thanks again

Re: Satellite Radio in Ranger (ampman02)

    Hey ampman,

Great instalation. I had satellite radios installed in both vehicles over the Holidays. My next fishing rig will have it too.

I'm thinking that when the fishing is bad you play the country stations for the "cry in your beer music" and when things are good some good ole Southern Rock!!!!!

BTW, Congratulations to LSU for winning the National Championship!!! They played and looked like Champions last night.

    G-man

Re: Satellite Radio in Ranger (weedhopper)

Thanks G-Man. I was worried about my Bayou Boys for awhile, but I guess they decided to show up. We were lucky to get to the BCS championship, didn't really deserve to be there, but you're right, since we were there it was nice to seem them have a good, solid game. I'm loving the radio on the boat, since I'm not a great fisherman, it occupies my time1
