    Jack plate or not?

I have just purchase a new boat and I love the way it runs. Just wondering if it makes since to add a jacke plate. What would I gain by adding it. I am currently running 53(gps) with half tank and one person. I am putting out 5800 RPMs WOT The manual say I should have (5500-6000)WOT. Here's the set up:

    06 stratos 275
    Etec 115
    18" SS prop

I really dont need any more speed just wondering what would a jack plate add.

If your numbers are accurate I wouldn't change a thing.

Jack plate is for adding speed. It will give you the ability to raise the engine. Which will give you the ability to experiment with different props. Larger props will increase speed and change the stability of how your boat handles some will be better and some will be worse.

Best you could probably hope for is 2 or 3 miles per hour faster.

Is it worth the cost of a jack plate to have a minimal gain?
