    Lowrance winter storage question

This will be my first winter with my new Ranger boat. It will be wrapped and stored outside in Conn. Should the 2 Lowrance 332's be removed and kept inside over the winter ? Thanks for your opinions

I would keep them out of the cold.

Yes, and do yourself a favor, if you are going to put the boat down for a long winters nap, disconnect the Speedo tube and the H20 pressure gauge tube. Ice will kill them. Also jack up the trailer and block the axles so you don't flat spot the tires. Fogg the motor and add Stabil to the fuel.

A little rat poison (Havoc) put in the boat won't hurt either.

Take the transom saver off and trim the motor all the way down. This will allow any water to drain and no more to collect in the lower unit. Otherwise, it can freeze and crack the lower unit case. This is VERY expensive to fix - the last one I did about 10 years ago was almost $2,000!! Hit & run driver in a motel parking lot!!

Actually most of them self drain, but it's always nice to have it verticle or bag it to prevent excess water entering the unit.

Stay away from hit and run drivers in hotel parking lots!! Evidently they lead to freeze damage as well!!
