    outboard outdoors

anybody out there turn their engine all the way to one side to help minimize cable seizure? i can't remember where i read that and hadn't given it much thought until a buddy of mine had some problems recently with his cable. unfortunately, i have to store the boat outdoors, but did go through the covering/lubing/winterizing/6 pack process. just curious about the turning to one side issue. thanks for your time

    Re: outboard outdoors (hakksaw)

Its probably a good idea to clean the exposed parts on your steering system real good
before you store it. I would turn it back and forth several times and put fresh lube in it,
if required. I see no need to leave it turned to one side or the other.
