I have read in the post that one can be taken off and used on another but not sure if this is true? Mine is not charging but not sure if it is the emm to cold up here here to run now but just trying to get a head start. Thanks for any info mcgaff1

You may want to look at the PDP for bad solder joints. If you are sure your EMM is bad DFI would be a more reasonable avenue cost wise.

If you pull one from another motor, you will have to program each calibrated injector equation into the emm. Make sure you check with people in the know on this. It's not a trivial swap. Things go boom if you don't .

Re: ficht emm swap out (mcgaff1)

You can swap out your EMM with another, but its a hoop dancing contest.

Your existing EMM number is probably a 586484 or 586518.
If you have a newer EMM the number could be 586724
If it an exchange EMM the number could be 778617
That's just part numbers that could be on yours and many other engine's also.

The numbers I gave you will fit motors between 90hp to 250hp years 00 to 01.

Here's where it gets tricky....... as long as you have a donor EMM from a 225hp motor (REF one of part numbers above and it has to be a 225hp EMM), BRP diagnostic software at least 1.42b or 4.2, a serial port cable and a laptop computer you should be able to swap your EMM out and transfer the data from your original EMM to the donor one. The swap will transfer all of the injector data along with history, fault's, hours, serial number, etc. You will need to check timing once the transfer is done.

If it is one of the above part numbers but not from a 225hp motor it will have to be remapped as a 225, that cost from BRP is $1200.00 if you send your part in to be remapped, or $1200.00 if you send your part in to BRP and get an exchange (they keep your old EMM) or $1900.00 if you get a new EMM. Plus a form that has all data pertaining to your motor.

Some of this is above some peoples skill level.

Or you could just send yours to DFI, and they will repair it.

I know you need to swap the injector parameters when you replace an EMM, but what happens if your old one is completely toast, there must be some sort of base "starting point" or factory defualt.
