anybody have a sidescan transducer on their trolling motor

Does anyone have a sidescan transducer on their trolling motor? If so, when you move the motor, does it change the image on your screen? Over the weekend i had a sidescan transducer on the trolling motor and everytime i moved the motor it made it look like a hump or a line showed up on the screen. Makes sense to me as to why it does it, just wondering if it does it to anyone else.

Yea I run one on my trolling motor even though I rarely run actual side scan and yes it does mess with the image when you move the trolling motor

I had one on a previous boat. I didn't like the distortion when the TM moved. I went with DI this time, and SI on the transom.

Yup, doesnt bother me. Actually, if you are smooth enough i hear you can make your own 360 imaging.

Yep, good for keeping up with the schools movements.

Yes, mounted on a Terrova. Only time the screen is too jumbled to be useful is when I'm "following the contour" or have autopilot in Advanced mode. Then the head moves too much and the display is fragmented. Sure beats walking back to the console all the time.

Yes, it's good if you actually use it to locate things by sweeping in a circle slow enough to get clear reads. You can also spot brush with it if you are having problems finding the pile with you lure. I like it, but typically only use it for di and 2/d

I like mine for finding structure and baitfish,in deeper water, just set my Motorguide xi5 on a straight line course, and let it do the rest, once I lay down a few waypoints in an area, then I switch to 2d to fish, alot of dropshotting in the deeper water,so works good for me.

I have two.... SI and dedicated DI.
The "kink" when steering is a non issue for me...

I like this idea a lot but im assuming you don't fish around submerged structure in shallow water much?

I do...Not as often as some guys - that aluminum angle will take a pretty good thump fine.

But you won't catch me chopping my way thru an underwater forest like some of the pics Wayne or Doug posts.

I have mangled up some hose clamps & scratched stuff up - but since I am running a deep V W/T hull - I don't usually go in where I am grabbing the TM shaft and lifting the motor vertically very often - I'm more comfortable fishing vertical over 30 FOW.

Once I get under 2FOW I have to worry about dragging the keel.

I love SI on my troller while casting shorelines for musky. Makes keeping track of the weedline a breeze. Set the display to show the side toward shore and have a really good view of the terrain. The constant adjustments of advanced autopilot do mess with the screen which is probably more of a problem if you're searching for fish rather than structure.

Here's a good example of what you're talking about. This is from my 798 ci SI(no HD). It does give that Venetian blind effect when you turn the TM but I don't let it bother me. It's best to tighten down the Troll-Perfect and try to go as straight and fast as possible and make note of what you see and come back and fish it.

The only SI I have is on the bow. Getting ready to pull the trigger on either Helix 9 or 10 for the trolling motor.
    Don't worry Ma'am....
    I'm only here for the

if you r fishing fast yeah it affects it but if u r fishing slow it normally don't bother it when u turn it... I've thought about running it back and using a y cable to use the one mounted in the rear just for that, but only time I ever fish fast is when the wind is out of control and don't have a problem with it cause the image is coming in so slow you don't miss much
