First SI pics how are my settings

I fish a local river a lot and the water has finally dropped enough to fish. This was my first trip on it this year with my new 898 and I was amazed at some of the cover the side imaging unit showed. Here is one pic I took showing a tree in about 20 feet of water and you can even see the root wad at the base of the tree. Do my settings look about right? What color pallet do you guys us when trying to find fish?

Something is causing a ton of interference with your transducer, is the SI ducer' below the jackplate enough so it's not picking it up on the left side?

The transducer is mounted on the bottom right side of my jack plate but is several inches above the bottom of the boat causing the interference especially with the down imaging. If I move along at about 5 mph it is a lot better but because I fish the river a lot I don’t want to lower it. Usually I scan the banks on the right side which is perfectly clear but thanks for you comment.

is the interference from turbulence or air bubbles or something? is this typical of jack plate mounts? does a hole shot plate help?

I am not sure what really is causing my interference but when I go around 5 mph it clears up some. My jack plate does not have a hole shot plate. I may try to lower the transducer a little and see what happens. Here is a pic of my transducer mount.

You are getting echos from the inside of the jackplate.
The transducer SI beam "sees" to the water surface just like it "sees" directly under it.
The thin solid lines are the hard surface echos and the hazy part of the lines are from water turbulence.
A hole shot plate or any plate across the jackplate will eliminate the solid lines.
Going very slow will reduce the water turbulence line's thickness.

Great looking shots!. The detail looks good and the color is for the most part personal preference. I use the standard blue most of the time but really haven't played around enough with the others (other than the red/green for hardness). Doug has a great write-up about the "SI enhace" feature for finding fish as opposed to pretty structure/cover pictures...you can find it in this thread here

Thanks Wayne for you input, I will make a hole shot plate and mount my transducer to it. Also thanks to all you other guys for all your help.
