Skeg Damage ????

Well I hit a submerged log this morning and nocked a hunk off the front of my damn skeg almost as big as my fist !!!!! What is the best way to fix it , can I try and cut/fit another peice back into the hole and weld it , or should I just weld a hole new skeg back on ? I have an 08 225 HO thanks for the advice guys , if theres some kind of other fix , Im all ears !!!!!!!!!!!

Putting another piece back in and blending to fit would probably be the best way. The H.O. has a unique design that you will want to duplicate as close as possible.
