    98 FICHT power head

is it possible to switch a 98 fitch power head for a 97 150 fast strike?
The ficht's power head is blowen and i have a spare top end for fast strike without carbs. Can i swap the block only?

Re: 98 FICHT power head (mejt)

The blocks carry different part #'s so I do not believe they are interchangable.
Correction: I have been informed that you CAN interchange them.

Re: 98 FICHT power head (Danrude)

Thank you for the info I forgot to mention that the ficht that is blowen is a 98 175hp and the good block is a 97 150 FS . Are those two blocks the same? Sorry I have no numbers off the 2 motors , I am just seeing if it is possible to use the two motrs to make one good one? Thanks again for your time and knowledge.

The Cylinder and crankcase assembly are the same part numbers 5006011 as are the cylinder heads 338311, crank shafts are also the same. Pistons are different. For your use use this link http://www.shop.evinrude.com for more parts comparisons. Electronics and ignition systems are completely different.

They may carry the same part number, but from the Ficht that I tore down for the crankshaft for my Faststrike the blocks are somewhat the same but different. The Stator mount on top of the engine is different than was on the Faststrike meaning that the lip was higher around the top half of the crankshaft. I wish that I had pictures to show. But otherwise everything else seemed the same.

Dosen't the Ficht block oil thru the block rather than thru the fuel like the faststrike? For that reason, I don't think it would work....JMHO

Thanks for all the info I think I will not do the swap and keep the fast strike and forget about the FICHT. From all the great info you guys have given me I have come to the conclusion that it is not a straight forward process.
Thanks once again, This is one of the rare sites where you can ask a question and receive honest and accurate info from guys who really care!!
