The enemy of the fuel injected engines is carbon! XD50 being a blend leaves behind carbon which builds up and you must decarb. The XD100 is full synthetic and there is no carbon buildup.

The XD100 is the best thing you can run in that motor!

Use it down to about 1/4 tank and start adding, it will mix.

The XD-100 also does away with false no oil signals in the colder water on the DI engines, because it flows better in the colder temps. As was said, it's the BEST oil to run in any E/J engine, some guys even run it in their carb engines.
Hp Injector Amsoil!!!!![]()
I used XD100 exclusivly in my 2004 225 ho di, and it blew with 200+ hours. So I'm not sold!
Buy running the HD100 I think you can rule out that your failure was due to an oil related problem. Unless the oil pump itself went out.
Virtually all mechanical items will fail at one time or another. Yes 200 hours is low and I would not have bet you would have any problems at all if the engine was taken care of as you say. But there are faulty internal parts which I am sure make their way into our engines. maybe that was your case or maybe it was the EMM as someone suggested.
As a owner of a 2002 225 HO I am certainly sorry for your problem. Mine is approaching 150 hours with no core engine issues.
My frustration is that there is no warning system built into these engines to warn owners when an injector goes bad and ends in a blown power head. These engines are designed and tuned right on the edge, so its no wonder that we have a percentage that have problems in all brands. (Evin, Merc, Etc) That being said, there are a very high percentage of engines out there with more years and hours still running strong. I will admit that the numbers of good running engines does not make you feel any better when a failure happens to you.
Sometimes I wish I had my 1985 150 XP Back. One hell of a motor!! Not sure if they would last long in todays world with Pee for gasoline. And that aspect of things is only going to get worse.
+1 on that comment! i have put just over 360 hrs on mine in 3 years been running xd 50 for the first year and half; switched to the amsoil hp injector which is Synthetic!. I still do a decarb about every 75hrs and run yamaha ring free frequintley along with other ethanol fighters adn alway try to put E free gass in her and seldom ever put 87 octane! Keep good plugs and change the water pump. I try never to turn above 6000 I usually run it between 5400 - 5900 max.
