The start of my homemade smoker....

Picked up the start of my homemade smoker build yesterday. Building myself a patio model out of an old 100lb propane tank. Got tired of using my inefficient cheapo. I'm going to challenge myself to build this as cheap as possible so there will be alot of scrap pile metal used. Cooking area will be about 42"x15" and it will be a reverse flow smoker. Stay tuned for pics and updates as the build goes on.

Keep us updated. The only thing about one that big is it is going to take A LOT to feed it. Could add up pretty quick.

Go for it, you'll really enjoy it. I built mine 2 winters ago and absolutely love it. It is a reverse flow mounted on a small trailer. If you haven't I suggest doing some reading over at smoking meat forums. They have some great info and ideas you may like. I used third excel program that calculates the fire box diminsions, exhuast size, air inlet, and fire box to cooking chamber hole size. It was helpful and my reverse flow works very well and is easy to operate.
