Lowrance recommends an alchohol and water mix I believe, I add a couple drops of vinegar to my spray bottle also.

What kind of material is best for wiping off the cleaner?
I was in Harbor Freight this week and bought a pack of microfiber towels for $4, that and a small bottle of cleaner did the trick this morning.

Spray bottle with 20 percent vinigar and the rest water. Its cheap and by far the best also takes off hard water spots
I always hit the screen with running water then wipe off with a clean wet towel to remove dust. Then finish with a dry towel. This will prevent microabrasion.
I have been hitting it with KVD line conditioner when it gets bad. Works great.

A clean microfiber towel, stored in a dirt-free bag.
Keep one in das boot.
For fixing a scratched screen on a handheld GPS, I used Bon Ami cleanser on a very wet sponge.
Worked so much better than I could have imagined.
Looked downright new when I was done.
