I have a ranger 392V. The rear folddown seat pedestal will not come out of the hole. I am not sure it has ever been out. Any ideas on how to remove?
Thanks

Use a strap wrench and a litte penetrating lube. The strap wrench will keep you from scratching your pedestal. The rubber strap also gets a really good bite to let you generate some torque.

Same thing happened to me 3 yrs. ago. Left front pedestal seat in rear over winter, garaged. Metal fused together. Ended up having to drill it out! Pipe wrench, hammer, wd-40, etc., would not budge. Best of luck.
Instead of scratching it all up with a wrench Drill3/8 hole inseart a bolt and put a floor jack under under the bolt it will come right out lube first, put a rubber plug in hole

Keep Bass Boat Saver or any other detail wax on them and the will come out a lot easier!!!
Just had the same thing happen with my front one. Had to use a pipe wrench to get it off. Tore it up a little bit but I got it out. then I used a dremel with a sanding bit to sand out a tad of the post hole in the boat. works great now.

The thing I found to work once you got it out was a brake caliper hone or a wheel cylinder hone...(keeps the hole round) once your finished put some silcone spray on the plastic insert...![]()

I had that problem. After I got them out, heard about this as a solution. Use parafin wax on the seat base. Won't stain anything, cheap, easy, and protects the surface of the metal as well.

the champion that i just bought had a stuck back seat i tried the pipe wrench with a five foot breaker bar just to turn it.then broke out the engine hoist wrap a chain around the pole ,add a little pressure and turn with pipe wrench and the seat goes flying![]()
+1on the craftsman adjustable strap wrench. You also might try some dry lube such as graphite rather than the wet stuff. Then once the seat is removed use an emory cloth to sand the metal base a litte where it goes in the hole if it is not the screw in type. I had someone recommend this to me a few years ago on this board and it worked. It was on the springfield seat base pole with the plastic tab that you have to push to release the seat pole.

My friend has that problem. We put a pipe wrench with a 4 foot cheater on it and the result was a crushed post and its still stuck in there. We are thinking of hooking it to a hoist but im afraid to damage the deck.
The key to using a hoist is just add little pressure and turn.just do it a little at a time. I got a little carried away and my seat tried to fly
