I have recently noticed the eyes on most of my rods have a build up on them. Can anyone recommend something to clean them with? I have tried soapy water and a Q-tip but it did not remove all of the crud, just some. Maybe a soft bristle toothbrush?

If it's really bad....I guess you could use Simple Green, and an appropriate size piece of pipe cleaner.
BBS and a Qtip should leave your guides nice and slippery for longer casts!!!
Try using a small bottle brush (you can get them a hobby stores) and most any household cleaner. Once you get them clean spray the rod and line with KVD Line Conditioner. It will keep the crud down on the guides and make your line behave much better.. Check it out at:http://www.lineandlure.com.
Put the q tip in a battery operated drill.
